The Teaching Faculty :-

The teaching faculty in the University cosists of scholars of national repute and international eminence. Many of them have received national and international recognition, honours and awards. They represent all parts of India and have regular interaction with institutions of higher learning, the world over. Many of them have foreign assignments in various prestigious institutes.

Academic Interaction at the Campus :-

There is an active academic interaction through seminars, conferences, workshops, special and invited lectures, organized by different Departments at local, regional, national and international levels.

Centres of Excellence :-

The University has Centres of Excellence supported by national and international agencies and these can be cited as :.

  • High Energy Physics
  • Special Assistance Programme (SAP) in Political Science.
  • FIST Programme in Botany, Physics and Chemistry
  • Geology

Computer Science and Application :-

Way back in 1978 Universityof Jammu established a Computer Centre. A full fledged independent Department of Computer Science Came into existence in 1987 when PGDCA programme was started. In 1995, Department started MCA three years course. The Department has computer laboratories, Internet Access and E-mail. Soon, each of the University Departments will have access to the Central Computing with Internet & E-mail facilities.

University Administrative Offices :-

The University administration is hosted in two separate wings i.e. Administrative Wing & Examination Wing. General Administration, is looked after by the Registrar and the Examination Section by the Controller of Examinations who work directly under the direction of the Vice-Chancellor. Director, College Development, looks after the affiliation of Colleges and other development aspects such as the UGC Grants, Vocationalization, Teachers' Training & Affiliation for new courses.

Adult Education Unit :-

The Centre arranges for extension and outreach activities in villages and programmes for promoting social responsibility and capacity building among people besides undertaking community work for self improvement of adults.
