Kerosene oil drives 8 Nos. lawn mowers, 5 lawn mowers one mini work shop one poly house and green house, one nursery in 6 kannals.

Department of Arbouriculturist & Landscape upon to develop and maintain the University Campus in the best possible manner in the field of floriculture and landscaping taking up the project on a rugged landscape with wild growth it has been converted into spacious lawns inter spersed with seasonal flowers, perennial shrubs bushes, creepers and trees.

Achievements :-

New Campus of Jammu University was established over 120 acres of land christened as Rakh Bahu in the revenue records and true to its name it was covered with a variety of local trees. Predominant among them were, Cassia modesta, Cassia fistula, Albizzia lebbok, Acacia catacha, Dilbergia sessoo, Morus alba and Undestroy of perennial shrubs Predominantly Lantana camera and As well as seasonal herbs and shrubs Like Xanthum strumarium.

After the layout of civil Plans, a comprehensive landscape plan was finalized for giving maximum exotic look and color to the Campus. The plantation material selection was specifically thematic and in harmony with the background landscape of the area and due consideration was given to the height, size and shape of canopy, flowers and foliage colour sent as well as the time of flowering and profusion of flowers, so as to ensure that the campus got minimum leaf litter and all the year round colour to the Campus.

In the first phase the major thrust was with regard to avenue plantation along the arterial roads which has come up nicely with the passage of time. Traditionally lay out of lawns in front of buildings, blocks including central Plaza and plantation of specimen trees, shrubs and seasonals was also done. The emphasis was more on landscape harmonious material with less of tending and maintenance.

In order to create a curio landscape a cactus garden on 13 Kannals of land was created which can boast of a unique feature in whole of northern India. The cactus garden unit also houses two water bodies and a glass house for propogation and multiplication of rare cacti & succulent species. As on date the cactus garden is having 800 plants of 50 species. As on date the cactus garden is having 800 plants of 50 species of cacti and succulents.

The Campus has one nursery and a green house for seasonal seedlings and other species and varieties of plants for plantation and replenishment. Species wise areas has been planted with following trees, shrubs and creepers including hedgs and edges. Total number of trees and bushes in full grown condition is around 6000.
