For the next few years, the overall thrust of research
would comprise:
Studies on Pakistan, with specific
reference to the Islamisation of its polity, internal
social developments and mutations in its economy.
Research on socio-economic and political
developments in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, including the
Northern Areas, and their impact on regional security.
Impact of geo-political transformations
in Central Asian states on regional peace and stability
Research on Water Security issues
specific to riparian rights, river water and river-basin
sharing and water management developments that have potential
for conflict.
Analysis of theoretical discourses
in security studies and evolving response to these from
the perspectives of the developing world
Trends in International and regional
security and functioning of multilateral institutions.
Undertake studies on trends in international
terrorism, notably the changing parameters of trans-national
terrorism and its impact on India’s internal security,
particularly in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Foster research in politico-military
doctrine and strategy in pursuit of national security.
Promote research and study of trends
in the nature and methods of warfare and application of
force in the 21st century.
Initiate study of trends in military
technology, defence industry and resources availability
and their implications for national security and defence.
