POK PROJECT :-
The Pakistan
Occupied Kashmir (POK) Project is associated with the Centre
for Strategic and Regional Studies, University of Jammu. The
project aims at widening the discourse on the issue of
Kashmir by focusing on the developments across the line of
control (LOC). The main areas of research comprise: the
legal and political status of POK; the socio-economic
development of the region; and developing a comparative
framework to analyse POK and J&K.
The project
aims at conducting research on all the above mentioned areas
objectively and disseminate them through multiple channels
such as seminars, workshops, talks, etc. Documentation of
the project includes collecting material from various
libraries, press clippings, web sources, oral
histories and interviews. The project has the distinction of
producing a quarterly newsletter titled Across LOC,
the only regular publication in India focusing on the
developments across LOC. The newsletter, besides summarizing
all activities carried under the project, contains
information of current relevance.
The faculty
involved in research comprise Dr. Debidatta Aurobinda
Mahapatra and Dr. Seema Shekhawat.
