Activities

·    The department has a provision of field tour for familiarizing the students with the field techniques related to social research. The filed tour is conducted with an objective of comparative study of different cultures.

·    Keeping the aspirations of society the department extends the expertise in terms of research. It also orients the students for the competitive market. The department invites guest faculty regularly and also conducts seminars and conferences.

Placement Record:

Students of the department have been absorbed in various state and central departments like Higher education, 10+ 2 lecturers, Kashmir Administrative Services, NUEPA, Social Auditors, Social workers etc. Department has produced about 80 M.Phils and 32 PhDs till date. About 50 students have qualified NET/ JRF, 130 NET and 15 SET. The department is striving hard to make it a centre of excellence and has produced many research publications in various journals of National and International repute.
