International Collaborating Programmes :-
- Prof. I.B. Sharma has collaborated with University
of Karlsruhe, Germany, Tokyo Institute of
Technology, Tokyo and University of Oxford..
- Prof. R. Gupta has an international collaborative
programme with Prof. A. Loupy of ICMO, University
of South Paris, France in "Solvent free Organic
reactions under microwave irradiation" since
1998.
- Dr.S. K. Pandey has an international collaboration
with University of Wurzbing, Germany.
- Dr. R.K. Bamezai has an international
collaboration with Martin Luther University,
Germany.
International Fellowships :-
- Dr. S. K. Pandey was awarded fellowship by RITE
Japan in 1998 for six months.
- Dr. K.K. Kapoor was awarded BOYCOST fellowship
by DST and worked in Japan during 1999-2000.
- Dr. K.K. Kapoor was awarded Post Doctoral
teacher fellowship by Indian Academy of Science,
Bangalore to work with Prof. P. Balaram,
Director, IISc Bangalore, in 1999.
- Dr. Satya Paul is in U.K. under DST BOYCOST fellowship
since April 2002 for one year.
- Dr. R.K. Bamezai was awarded INSA-DFG
fellowship in 2003.
- Prof. Meena Sharma was awarded INSA
fellowship to Czech Republic in 2003.
- Dr. S.K. Pandey was awarded Alexander Von
Humboldt Fellowship in 2005

Activities :-
In addition to academic activities leading to M.Sc.,
M.Phil. and Ph.D. Degrees, the Department has Chemical
Society under the aegis of which various activities,
for example, debates, invited Lectures, Seminars,
short tours/picnics are held from time to time.
The department also organizes almost each year
refresher courses in Chemistry for College and
University teachers in collaboration with Academic
staff College, University of Kashmir, Srinagar.
Additionally, the Department also arranged refresher
courses for 10+2 Lecturers in collaboration with State
Institute of Education, J&K Government. In
addition, various conferences, seminars, workshops,
symposia etc. have been organized in the Department.
Organization Memberships :-
The faculty members and research scholars of the
Department are invariably life or annual members of
various organizations like Indian Chemical Society,
Indian Council of Chemists, National Academy of
Sciences, Indian Liquid Crystal Society, Chemical
Research Society of India, Indian Association for
Solid State Chemists and Allied Scientists, Indian
Association of Analytical Chemists, Alexander Von
Humbholdt Foundation, Research Institute of Innovative
Technology for the Earth etc.
Recognition/Affiliation :-
The Department of Chemistry is affiliated to
University of Jammu. The Department has been
identified by the Department of Science and
Technology, New Delhi as DST-FIST sponsored in the
year 2002 for a period of five years
