Quality Initiatives and Healthy Practices

Ø  Library resources have been further enriched by adding books in library.

Ø  The department has been incorporating the latest trends and technologies in teaching learning and other aspects of the functioning of the department.

Ø  The teachers are actively participating in faculty development programmes.

Ø  Each student is encouraged to take topics related to grass root problems especially in classroom situation and suggest suitable remedial measures under action research. The students are imparted training and given practice for conducting action research in actual classroom situations.

Ø  Regular opportunities for discussions, brainstorming sessions, power point presentations and seminars are conducted in the classrooms to improve student achievements and to provide technology rich learning environments. The students of M.Ed. presented papers in seminars conducted in classroom on academic and pedagogical topics based on the current issues. Students were also encouraged to write assignments on emerging topics. Each student prepared a write up on five current topics in the field of teacher education based on their publications in newspapers. They also attached the news paper clipping with it.

Ø  The department is providing internet services to the students in the library so that the students can directly access E-journals and other desired literature.

Ø  Various research based activities like research practicals, open viva-voce of the dissertation, abstract writing were conducted to harness the research aptitude of students. The students were required to have indepth understanding of preparing abstract, preparing attitude scale, preparing questionnaire, writing references, process of selecting suitable tools and  preparing synopsis. In addition to this, each student of M.Ed. prepared 4 low cost self made teaching aids made up of biogradable material. The aim was to encourage the students to use locally available recourses. They also prepared four transparencies (2 per teaching subject) and made power point presentation on two different topics. This was done to ensure that the students learn to use latest technologies. Abstracts writing made the students competent enough to write articles for journals.
