Post Graduate Department of Botany (PPT)
Established in 1971

The Department of Botany came into existence as an independent department in 1998 as an offshoot of erstwhile Department of Biosciences, University of Jammu. Courses at MSc. level are designed to take care of both the classical and contemporary aspects of Plant and Microbial Sciences. Within a short span, the Department earned a name as a centre for postgraduate studies and research. The hard work put in by the teachers and more so by the students started yielding dividends right from the very beginning. Alumni of the department have excelled in various fields mainly in teaching, research and administration. The department has both the expertise and infrastructure to help students opt for getting basic as well as advanced training in various areas of Plant Sciences including ecology, mycology, cytology, cytogenetics, molecular biology, biosystematics, reproductive biology and plant pathology.
