Intake Capacity for various courses :-
M. Sc. Biotechnology : 10 + 3 (NRI/Industry sponsored)
Eligibility:
A candidate who possesses a Bachelor's Degree in any Science
discipline, namely, B. Sc, B.Sc. Agriculture, B. Pharm.,
B.V.Sc., B.D.S., M.B.B.S., B.Sc. (Hons), etc. is eligible
for admission to M. Sc. Biotechnology Programme.
Admission to this programme is made through Combined
Entrance Examination Biotechnology (CEEB) conducted by
Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, against all the
sanctioned ten (10) seats, two (2) being reserved for the
SC/ST/PH categories. Out of these, five (5) seats are to be
filled as per
University of Jammu Statutes in order of merit from among
those who have qualified the CEEB. All the ten (10) students
selected for the course are provided studentship for two (2)
years @ Rs. 800.00 per month.
M. Sc. Microbiology : 15
Eligibility:
For admission to M.Sc. Microbiology programme, a candidate to
be eligible must hold Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc.) under 10+2+3
pattern of education in Microbiology/Biotechnology/Agriculturte/Veterinary Science/Medical Stream/Botany/Chemistry/Biochemistry/B.Pharma/MBBS
with 50% marks.
M. Sc. Biochemistry : 15
Eligibility:
For admission to M.Sc. Biochemistry programme, a candidate to
be eligible must hold Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc.) under 10+2+3
pattern of education in Biochemistry/Biotechnology/B.Sc with
Medical/Non-Medical subjects, BDS/MBBS/BVSc,B.Sc.
Agriculture with 50% marks.
M. Phil. in Biotechnology
The number of vacancies and the areas of research for
admission to these programmes are determined by the
Departmental Research Committee prior to the issuance of
notification to this effect.
Candidates possessing M.Sc. degree in Biotechnology or
allied sciences are eligible for admission to this programme.
Admissions are made as per the statutes of the University of
Jammu and are made on the basis of inter se merit; however,
preference is given to such candidates as have cleared NET
or are working in Research Schemes/Projects within the
Department.
Ph. D.
The number of vacancies and the areas of research for
admission to this programme are determined by the
Departmental Research Committee prior to the issuance of
notification by the Dean Academic Affairs, University of
Jammu. The candidates are admitted on the basis of an
Entrance Examination conducted by the School, twice a
year.
Candidates possessing M.Phil. degree in Biotechnology are
eligible for admission directly to Ph.D. Programme.
