In recognition of valuable research contributions made in the last five years, the Department has been awarded Rs. 35 lakhs under the Funds for Iprovement of Science and Technology (FIST) programme of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
A broadband Seismological Station has been established in the Department for monitoring seismic activity in the Jammu region under a DST Project.
Eleven students of this department have qualified the NET/ SLET examinations in last five years.
