Dr Chinmoyee Maharana received her Ph.D from the National Brain Research Centre, Manesar, a nodal center under the Department of Biotechnology, India. She was recognized by the Indian Science Congress Association and was presented with the Young Scientist Award in 2011 by Nobel Laureate Prof. Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, in animal sciences, for her work in identifying molecular underpinnings of synaptic plasticity and memory. Her doctoral research work was published in reputed international journals. She is a member of many national (Indian Science Congress, Indian Academy of Neurosciences) and international bodies (Society for Neurosciences, Brain Awareness Week Campaign Partner, etc.). Dr Chinmoyee did her 1st post-doctoral work with one of the world’s top neuroscientists, Prof. Mark P. Mattson, at the National Institute of Aging, NIH, USA. Dr. Chinmoyee worked both in basic and translational research to understand the roles of Presenilin 1 in Alzheimer’s disease, and she was recognized by NIH, USA, and awarded the Fellow Award for Research Excellence 2015. During her postdoctoral work, she mentored many students. At NIH, she was an active member of the Women Scientists Advisors, the NIH Fellow editorial Board, and the Science and Outreach Subcommittee. Her work on Sirt3 in neuronal plasticity and cognition in collaboration was published and covered by the media. Furthermore, she received the Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellow Award from the Israeli Government to work at Tel Aviv University, where she aimed to understand neuronal network activity in 5xFAD mice and alleviate its mutational effects through miRNA. She received the Best Poster Award at the Israel Brain Technologies 2017 conference. Dr. Chinmoyee worked at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as a research scientist in the biotherapeutics and anti-venom project. She had organized, chaired, and presented in national and international meetings, served as an invited panelist, engaged and organized many public awareness and science popularization, and outreach activities. She also serves as an editorial board member in international peer-reviewed journals and has published her research work and book chapters in reputed national and international peer-reviewed journals. She is now serving as an Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, University of Jammu, and Deputy Director, Skill Innovation Incubation Entrepreneurship Development Centre and Science Club, Coordinator, and many of the institutional committees.
