Prof. Neeru Sharma, Professor

Home Science

Prof Neeru Sharma did her Post graduation from The Department of Home Science, University of Jammu, with M Sc (Human Development, Home Science, 1990) and PhD from the same Department in 2000.  She qualified UGC NET in 1989 and after completion of her master’s degree joined as Lecturer in the same Department,  where she is currently serving as Professor (Since 2009) and has been Head of Department of Home Science twice for a period of three years (2010-2013, 2015-2018). She has served as I/C Librarian, Dhanwantri Library; Convener, Campus NSS Units and UGC SWAYAM Coordinator, University of Jammu. She has also served as  Director, Centre for Women’s Studies, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee,  Chairperson, Campus Sports Committee, in the University of Jammu. She has served in many statutory academic and administrative bodies of Parent University and is in the panel of experts in various Universities of the country. She has also served as Expert member in many of UGC Committees; and UPSC and Public Service Commissions.
She has carried out UGC sponsored Major Research Project and has guided 15 PhD thesis till date, written more than 70 research papers, published 2 books  and has written book chapters in edited books and conference proceedings. She was nominated as the Coordinator, National Resource Centre in Home Science, University of Jammu, and  has  developed an online refresher course in Home Science for ARPIT (SWAYAM) under PMMMNMTT titled " Professional Development of Home Science Faculty"
