Dr. Tarsem Lal, Associate Professor

Dr. Tarsem Lal is an Associate Professor in the Department of Commerce, University of Jammu.  He is Ph.D (Finance), M.Phil, M.Com and UGC NET qualified. He is having very vast experience of teaching and research in business education. He teaches Advanced Accounting, Financial Reporting, Investment Management, Strategic Cost Management and Management Control System. He has guided several Ph.D and M.Phil candidates. He has published 35 research papers in high quality peer reviewed referred journals of national and international repute. He has published four books and eight chapters in edited books. He has presented 47 research papers in national and international seminars/ conferences. He has participated in 51 national and international seminars/ conferences. He is credited with one UGC research project.

The current research of Dr. Tarsem Lal focuses on Financial Inclusion, Microfinance, Retirement Planning, Non-Performing Assets, Portfolio Management and Indian Sock Market. 

Dr. Tarsem has attended several capacity building programmes and research methodology workshops. He has also coordinated several research methodology workshops and seminars/ conferences. He has prepared the syllabus (floated new courses) of various subjects of M.Com I, II, III and IV Semesters (Finance Group). He has also designed the course curriculum of B.COM first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth semester in Accounting and Finance specialization under NEP 2020. 

Dr. Tarsem has coordinated several extension and outreach programmes organised by Department of Commerce under its extension and outreach activities. He has also coordinated Industrial/ educational tour of M.Com II and IV semester students. 
Dr. Tarsem has remained departmental NAAC Coordinator (2013-2017) and Departmental Alumni Coordinator (2013-2017).

At present he is serving as the member of Jammu University Internal Complaints Committee against Sexual Harassment (JUICCASH), Departmental RUSA Coordinator, Departmental Coordinator of Extension and Outreach Activities and Departmental Coordinator of Swatch Bharat Abhiyan.
