Dr. Suman Jamwal, Professor & Head

History

Professor Suman Jamwal currently holds the position of Head of the Department of History at the University of Jammu and serves as the Director of the Centre for History and Culture of Jammu and Ladakh Regions. She has previously directed the Centre for Womens Studies at the University. Her expertise lies in the Ancient and Early Medieval History of Jammu and Kashmir, demonstrated through her authored works Agriculture & Commerce in Early Medieval Kashmir and Economy of Early Kashmir. Additionally, she has co-edited three books on the history and culture of Jammu and Kashmir and has published numerous research papers in esteemed academic journals. Professor Jamwal has organized multiple seminars and workshops aimed at highlighting the history and culture of Jammu and Kashmir. Renowned for her incisive insights and articulate expression, she has been honored as Sectional President of the Ancient Indian History Section and has also delivered the valedictory address at the Punjab History Conference.
