Professor Manoj Kumar Dhar joined University of Jammu as a research scholar in 1987. He obtained M. Phil and Ph.D degrees from Univerisity of Jammu. He was selected as Lecturer in the erstwhile Department of Biosciences, University of Jammu during 1992. He was appointed as Reader in Biotechnology during 1999 and served as its founder Head of the Department. After addition of Masters degree programs in Biochemistry and Microbiology, he was elevated as Director of the newly christened School of Biotechnology. Prof. Dhar is currently on deputation as Director, Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), an Institution of National Importance established by an Act of Parliament, India. He has earlier served as Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu, Jammu. He is also the member of the Technology Development Board (TDB), a statutory body of Govt. of India. His major research interests are Genomics including unravelling of secondary metabolic pathways in medicinal plants; molecular cytogenetics, plant-microbe interaction including endophytes, etc. He has published about 200 research papers in renowned International and National journals. He is on the editorial board of 3 International journals and has also edited special volumes. Professor Dhar is the fellow of two prestigious academies of the country namely National Academy of Sciences India and National Academy of Agricultural Sciences. He is the recipient of many national and international awards and honours. He has supervised >30 students for Ph. D degree and mentored several post-doctoral students.
