Political Science

I am currently serving as Head, Department of Political Science at the University of Jammu. I started my career as an Assistant Professor at GNDU, Amritsar, in January 1994 and joined the Department of Political Science at the University of Jammu as a Reader in September 2003.

I have 30 years of teaching experience, wherein I have been actively engaged in teaching and research at the Masters', Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy Degree levels, respectively. Under my supervision, 8 Ph. D. Degrees & 21 M. Phil. Degrees have been awarded. My areas of specialisation are Comparative Politics, Politics in South Asia, International Politics and India's Foreign Policy. I have published more than 40 papers in journals and books of national and international repute, and I also co-edited two books and edited one book.

I have served the University of Jammu in various capacities such as Reader, Associate Professor, Professor, Head of Department, Convener BOS, Director DSRS & Director UGC- Nehru Studies Centre and also as a member of the Faculty of Social Sciences, BOS, BORS & Academic Council. I have also been serving as an External Expert on the BOS of Political Science, Public Administration and Defence & Strategic Studies of various Universities of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh & Haryana. I have also served as an External Expert on the Research Bodies of HPU (Shimla), CDLU (Sirsa) and Central University of Jammu (Jammu).
