PROF. JASBIR SINGH- Brief Introduction:-
Professor Jasbir Singh is a professor of economics at the University of Jammu, Jammu. At present his additional responsibilities include Head, Department of Philosophy, Director, University Campus, Kishtwar, and Chair Professor, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya UGC-Chair. He has the honor of being nominated as a Non-Official Director on the Board of Directors, BSNL, New Delhi for three years and was awarded life membership by The International Committee of the Free Economic Society of Russia, Moscow, Russia in 2017. He was selected to attend the Leadership for Academicians Program (LEAP) held from February 25, 2019, to March 15, 2019, at Penn State University, Pennsylvania, USA, and IIT, BHU supported by MHRD, Government of India. He is vice –president of the World Centre for Women Studies, New York since 2015. He remained vice–president of the Indian Society of Agricultural Economics, Mumbai 2010-12 and The Society of Economics and Development, Punjab 2021-22.
He has authored /edited /co-edited 11 books and Completed 7 Research Projects. Some of these are Seasonal Migration and Human Development: A Study of Bakarwals in Jammu and Kashmir; Level of Human Development and Quality of Life: A Case Study of Scheduled Castes in Jammu Region; Jammu & Kashmir Human Development Report; Extent and Causes of Dropout Rates among Gujjars of Jammu Region, and Status of Resource Utilization and Management: A Study of Chenani Watershed (J&K)
He has served as Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Head, Department of Economics, Dean Students Welfare, Controller of Examinations, Head, Department of Psychology, Hon. Director, Centre for Study of Social Exclusion & Inclusive Policy In charge Central Library; Provost Hostels Boys; Member Syndicate, University of Jammu; Member Syndicate, University of Kashmir, Member University Council, University of Jammu, Programme Coordinator and Chairman, NSS. He has also been on different advisory Committees in the University of Jammu and outside the university.
