University of Jammu
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Atri, Associate Professor
Environmental Science

Hello there! I’m Rakesh, serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the University of Jammu, India. I completed my master’s degree right here at the University of Jammu, and later pursued my M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences at the School of Environmental Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

I have the pleasure of teaching a range of exciting courses on "Environmental Chemistry, Environmental Instrumentation and Analysis, Soil Science, and Climate Change and Policy Interventions".

My research focuses on assessing metal toxicity in urban soils and sediments, as well as exploring the geochemistry of atmospheric aerosols. Lately, I am engrossed in studying climate linked socio-ecological vulnerabilities across the lower Himalayas in Jammu and Kashmir.

I’m always excited to welcome enthusiastic and motivated interns to my laboratory.
